Cults fertility and femininity were common in ancient civilizations, including Egypt. The Great Mother Goddess was depicted in many cultures under different names, Aphrodite, Ceres, Isis, Venus ... The function of these goddesses was reproductive and life-giving. Goddesses were not virgins, as this would go against their reproductive function.
